Yesterday Edie had her first set of immunisations and she has been tired and grumpy since. It's confirmed what I was thinking about her developing into a happy chilled out bebe because the whinging has been so out of character. We've been feeling so bad for her, and watching the nurse stick the needle in her chubby little thigh was torture. Still, she needs her jabs and we need her to be happy and healthy. Most of her day has been spent flaked out or fretful, I managed to get a few smiles from her too - brave girl!

I've not been in internet land too much recently, but now I have a cute lil' Netbook and browsing can be done from bed it's all gonna change!
There are tonnes of Edie pics on my blog if you wanna have look :D

Does anyone know how to post blog entries as LJ entries without manually c+ping the whole thing? I've seen it done just don't know how.. I'd like to keep my lj alive, even if it is all cross posts : )

Look What I Made! [14 May 2009|02:52pm]
Photobucket

Little Edie Rose was born on 24th April at 2.03am. She's amazing and I'm head over heels in love with her!

The labour was painful but I look back now and laugh at the ridiculous things I was saying to Tom; "If you loved me you'd make them put me to sleep and give me a caesarean" is one of the choice phrases that comes to mind. It was only around 6 hours this time, pethedine and gas & air again. I went home that afternoon, I couldn't wait to get out of the maternity ward with all the horrid condescending midwives there.

Since coming home things have been a little rocky but ok. I'm having problems feeding her and she still hasn't regained her birthweight which has had me stressing and worrying all the time. The HV came today and said there's nothing to worry about, she's healthy and alert and chunky! I'm combination feeding her, I didn't think I'd be able to breastfeed after my reduction but I can - it's amazing! But she's being topped up with Aptimil and I'm aiming to exclusively breastfeed her.

Tom went back to work on monday and I miss him horribly. I'm slowly getting into some sort of routine and, predictably, I'm exhausted! Edie's a good little sleeper though and Lily has been a dream, really kind and helpful.

I'm meant to be feeding the little one every 2-3 hours to boost my milk supply so I'd better go and get her up :D There will be more soon, I'm sure :)

Ok, I never post and this is because when I turn the computer on all I have motivation to do is move the mouse around, not actually do anything constructive which means I've been neglecting here and my blog and other things.
The prgnancy is going well but I'm just so knackered all the time. I found out the baby is stealing all my iron and I'm anaemic which I'm pretty sure is the reason for me feeling zombified. I'd rather there was something wrong with me than the baby though, she's welcome to my iron and I instinctively feel that she is happy and healthy and bloody HUGE!!
Officially there is three weeks to my due date but I'm almost certain she'll be here sooner (just watch me go overdue now that I've said that!). If she turns up during the Easter hols that'll be perfect and Lily will be able to spend lots of time with her on her first days.
I think that's about all I can write for now, so have some
pictures! )

I'll try not to leave it it so long next time ;)

Ok, so I have gone from being no-bellied to everyone commenting on how huge I am. Both my mum and Tom's have said that I shouldn't trust the two ultrasound scans I've had and it's probably twins in there which I'm fully and definitely ignoring.

This is the textbook belly at 33 weeks:

And this is the Clare belly:

As you can see I'm currently far to tired to be bothered with such things as brushing my hair and tidying the bedroom. I'm thinking I look lots bigger than the illustration but maybe the drawing is based on someone who didn't eat chocolate for every meal for most of their pregnancy.

Thinking of food, with Lily my cravings were icey cold milk and cheeseburgers. With this baby I've gone crazy for vinegar drenched pizza, Braeburn (and only Braeburn) refrigerated apples and strawberry jam on toast. I've never eaten so much toast in my life, I won't be surprised if this baby comes out with a tan.

Lily went off to Cadbury World with her best friend today so Tom and I got the last few baby things. We got two nappy pails which we had to search high and low for, also some Nuk bottles which were the most expensive but I've heard good things about them - and they were the cutest! The only thing we have to buy now is a monitor and we're done! Toms Mum also gave us a gorgeous yellow hand knitted blanket and we're going over in the week to pick up Toms old baby clothes, I can't believe she has kept them for 38 years! They are lovely though and it's so nice to think of baby wearing her daddy's clothes. I've been buying vintage baby clothes from Ebay too, she now has an awesome wardrobe of clothes!

I'm home alone tonight with Lily and Tom both out and doing their thing so I'm going to eat the rest of the ice cream and watch old Seinfelds until I fall asleep, which will be approx 10 minutes after hitting the play button.

Baby baby [21 Jan 2009|01:23pm]
I was so sure I was having a boy this time round, I couldn't even entertain the thought of having a girl. I was hoping as my 12 week scan was so late they would be able to tell me but I had the scan at a health center and the ultrasound machine was more like a huge laptop so it wasn't the best detail. Also I know this scan is important for many other reasons than finding out the sex so I left that appointment unenlightened.

Here's the wee bean at 15 weeks

At the next appointment, this time at the Women's Hospital with a top notch double screen machine, after the sonographer had determined that all was well with the baby she asked if we wanted to know the sex. We said yes please, if you can and, I'm no expert, but as soon as the baby's bits were up on the screen I could clearly see that it was a girl and she confirmed it.

The little ones head/profile at 21 weeks

So now I know for sure that I have absolutely zero intuition! It's sunk in now and I'm totally embracing the thought of having another little girl. I've made a start on buying clothes and I have to say, baby girls clothes are way cuter than boys :P We're totally stuck on a name, I really like Effie (story of why here ) but I need to convince Tom. What's your favourite girls name/s? Halp!

Friends in the garden... [07 Nov 2007|07:21pm]

There's a couple of frogs that live in the edges of our garden, well I think they live under the decking next door but they come into our garden, probably to eat the slugs and stuff. The other day I clipped one with the lawn-mower, it was bleeding quite badly and I was consumed by guilt, I held it for a bit and as it didn't try to get away I knew it must be quite hurt. It had a laceration on it's leg and another underneath, but not quite on it's belly. I put him in Cliffords old mousecage that I'd cleaned, just the tray, not the actual cage bit, put a wee bit of water, a rock for him to sit on, some leaves to hide under and a few little slugs for him to munch and I left him under the tree in the shade for the afternoon.
Every time I checked on him he was a little better, the bleeding stopped and was eating the slugs. I phoned my mum when it happened and she said it would probably be kinder to kill him as he's in pain and will definitely not last over night. Well what does my mum know? The froggy made a full recovery and when I looked in the morning he had gone. I did worry that he'd gone off to die but he came back to the tray of water yesterday and I've seen another yellowish frog in the water too! So we've submerged the tray into the ground to make a tiny pond and hopefully he and his friends will visit lots.

Argh, They're having a 'Christmas Production' O.o at Lily's nursery and she's been cast as a wise man... And I have to make the costume. Now, what do these wise men wear? I have no idea where to even start - help!
